NEXT COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING

Tuesday 9TH March 2021

 @ 7.30 p.m. McFarlan Hall

Until Government Covid19 requirements change, all Community Council meetings are being held as “Virtual”. As soon as we can resume normal meetings we’ll let you know.

Area Grant Funding

We reported that we had been allocated an Area Grant for funding of the completion of our website; we are pleased to say that the money has now been received.  The specification of the outstanding work is now with Creatomatic who will put this into their forthcoming work plan

Parish Works

We have reported to D&G Council, on several occasions, the potholes along Kirklands Loaning and Roxburghs Road, neither of which have received any attention.  These roads continue to deteriorate so we’re chasing these reports up yet again.

We’ve also been notified of, and reported, the repeated flooding under the railway bridge near Bellridding Farm; this is causing difficulty for both local and delivery drivers. We’re reporting this again too. If you note any other items requiring attention please bring this to the attention of your local Community Councillors

McFarlan Hall

The extension of Government ‘Covid19’ restrictions means we’re still not able to re-open the Hall.  Whilst the hall is closed we’re continuing with the upgrading programme – improved lighting should be installed in the main hall in February.  We’ll keep you informed of further progress

Calendar 2022

We’ve received a suggestion (not only due to the lovely area in which we live but also because of some amazing sunrises and sunsets recently) that it might be a good idea to produce a local calendar that we could sell to raise money for the parish clubs that haven’t been able to meet for the past 10 months and thus been unable to fundraise.

The calendar would feature photographs of our area and we thought it would be nice to invite you our local photographers to donate a photo to the calendar, we will obviously acknowledge each individual if their photo is chosen and included.

If you’d like to take part and submit a photo, we can accept your entries up until 30th June 2021.

Entries can be e-mailed (jpeg files please ) to j156gilbert@btinternet.com

We’re proposing that the calendar will be in A4 ‘portrait’ format with the photographs at the top with each month’s calendar below.

We hope you’ll think this is a good idea for a worthwhile cause and take part by letting us have copies of your photos. We’ll let you have details of the judging in due course.

Defibrillator

Unfortunately we have had to remove the defibrillator on a temporary basis due to a defect.

We are arranging for this to be resolved following which the machine will be re-installed in the telephone box alongside the McFarlan Hall, we will let you know as soon as the machine is back in service.
